Purple Heart

This is a wood from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It starts as a medium brown with faint purple accents which deepens over time to an intense eggplant purple

Osage Orange

Osage Orange is a hardwood that ranges from golden to bright yellow but will darken if exposed to UV light.

Maclura pomifera, commonly known as the Osage orange, is a small deciduous tree or large shrub, native to the south-central United States.

Bocote

Cordia is a species of shrubs and trees found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Many of  the species are commonly called manjack, while Bocote may refer to several Central American species in Spanish.

Has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. Color tends to darken with age. Also, the grain patterning can be quite striking, particularly in flatsawn areas. It’s not uncommon to see many “eyes” and other figuring in Bocote:

Bubinga

Heartwood ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish brown with darker purple or black streaks. Sapwood is a pale straw color and is clearly demarcated from the heartwood.

Black Walnnut

Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast. Sapwood is pale yellow-gray to nearly white. Figured grain patterns such as curl, crotch, and burl are also seen.

Sapele

This is a reddish brown wood. It comes from the west coast of Africa, Ivory Coast, Gabon and Caameroons.

Zebrawood

Zebrawood also comes from West Africa, mostly in Gabon and Cameroon.  Heartwood is a pale yellow-brown to pinkish brown with highly contrasting  narrow dark-brown streaks.

Brazilian Ebony With Sap

This is a Brazilian Ebony with some sapwood.  It is so dark brown that it almost appears black. The sapwood is white.  It has a very distinct grain that is comparable to Wenge.

Its origin is from Guyana, South America mostly from Brazilcontinental tropical America.

Bethelhem Olivewood

Bethlehem Olive wood comes from olive trees, symbolizing peace and health. It comes from the eastern Mediterranean region, Syria, parts of Asia Minor, the Southern end of the Caspian Sea, northern Iran, and of course, Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

Padauk

Padauk comes from Central and tropical West Africa.  Heartwood color can vary, ranging from a pale pinkish orange to a deep brownish red. Fresh-cut wood will be reddish-orange and darkening to reddish-purplish. It is a straight-grained wood.

Cocobolo

Cocobolo can be seen in a kaleidoscope of different colors, ranging from yellow, orange, red, and shades of brown with streaks of black or purple. Sapwood is typically a very pale yellow. Colors are lighter when freshly sanded/cut, and darken with age;
